YOUTH AMERICAN GRAND PRIX
We are excited to provide Apprentice Ensemble and Ensemble Ètoile students with the unique opportunity to participate in the prestigious Youth America Grand Prix Ballet Competition. YAGP is the world’s largest student ballet scholarship competition which awards over $250,000 annually in scholarships for students to further their ballet education creating momentum toward a professional career. The YAGP competition is open to all dance students between the ages of 9-19 years old. The preliminary auditions are held in major cities worldwide culminating with the finals in New York City.
As Artistic Director for Norwalk Metropolitan Youth Ballet, Mr. Adam encourages families to consider this as an important addition to their child’s dance education. Children who represent NMYB at YAGP have two options to do so, either as an ensemble member or a soloist competitor. Beyond supporting your child’s technical and artistic studies, participation in such an internationally respected program allows our dancers to realize firsthand the personal satisfaction of fulfilling a commitment and meeting the challenges associated with such a prestigious and honorable goal.
This year, NMYB will present ensembles and a number of Classical and Contemporary soloists. Ensemble members and soloists are chosen at the discretion of the Artistic Director with input from the Artistic Advisory Board. Selected dancers will be notified of their acceptance in the spring of the previous dance season. Only dancers who have been accepted into Apprentice Ensemble and Ensemble Ètoile will be eligible to participate in YAGP.
