Would you like to know more about the intensives, ask specific questions or get in touch with our faculty?
Intermediate and Advance Level Dancers, ages 13+ OR with Director approval.
We are thrilled to welcome back dancers for another summer of NMYB Intensives. Supervised by NMYB Artistic Director Mr. Adam Holms with support from our year-round faculty as well as visiting Master Teachers, this program is designed to support the needs of both the serious “recreational” dancer as well as those on a pre-professional track.
Our NMYB Intensives have been revamped for the 2024 summer; with two sessions being devoted to Contemporary Dance, one session focused on the ballet the Sleeping Beauty and 3 weeks offering our traditional summer Intensives. As always NMYB will be a welcoming environment where dancers can expect to feel seen, valued, while being safe and free to explore / work towards their individual goals. I pride our faculty on being not only well educated but also compassionate within their studio delivery.
Dancers will notice personal growth through the rigors of daily technique classes, improvisational prompts, and group choreography. Dancers can expect to spend their days (10:00am – 3:30pm) engaged in technical and artistic exploration. This program is designed for the intermediate and advanced level dancer and is recommended for students 13 years old and above OR with the direct approval of Mr. Adam.
We welcome ALL dancers but PLEASE note that if you are coming from another studio and are not currently dancing on pointe, the NMYB faculty will not evaluate you for pointe nor place you on pointe for the duration of a summer intensive.
Visiting dancers from other studios are warmly welcomed and will be engaged in class but will not receive information for the 2024 – 2025 school year unless they specifically request information. We pride ourselves on not poaching students from their home studios and are committed always in helping each dancer on their individual journey. See you at the barre!

Beginning and Advance Beginning / Intermediate and Advance
Our leveled evening classes are the perfect way to either begin your summer dance studies or to kick off the 2024 – 2025 school year. Classes are taught by NMYB core faculty members and instructors will change throughout the week. All classes will begin with a series of strengthening and stretching exercises meant to compliment that specific class focus. See you in the studio.

Advance Beginning
Each summer we are excited to welcome returning NMYB students as well as dancers from visiting studios for our annual Workshop Series.
Advance Beginning / newly placed Intermediate, ages 8 – 13 or with Director Approval
Developed by Artistic Director, Mr. Adam Holms with input from year-round NMYB faculty members these half-day workshops have been specifically designed for the Advance Beginner, newly promoted Intermediate student and those dancers recently approved for or with 1 to two years of pointe experience.
This half-day workshop was created to give this particular age group a technically appropriate yet challenging experience that takes into account the social dynamics that make this peer group so unique. Dancers will take two daily technique classes and will work with the same Master Teachers and year-round NMYB instructors that the full-day Intensive dancers receive.
As NMYB’s Artistic Director I am excited to work with this highly motivated age group. So often this population finds themselves too old for a creative dance experience yet not quite mature enough either technically or socially to work through the rigors of an Advanced program. This workshop environment empowers individuals to be pushed technically and given the freedom to grow artistically; all while strengthening the social bonds within this special peer group. I am the most excited for this special program.
