NMYB Summer Intensive Description for Weeks –
For Advanced Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced level dancers
We are thrilled to welcome back dancers for another summer of NMYB Intensives. Supervised by NMYB Artistic Director Mr. Adam with support from both our year-round faculty as well as visiting Master Teachers, this program is designed to support the needs of both the serious “recreational” dancer as well as those on a pre-professional track. NMYB Intensives have been revamped for Summer 2022 with smaller class sizes, a commitment to individual attention, all while maintaining our welcoming environment where dancers feel safe to take risks. Dancers will notice personal growth through the rigors of daily technique classes and Choreography. Dancers can expect to spend their days (10:00 – 3:30) engulfed in technical and artistic exploration. This program has been designed for dancers at the Adv. Beginning, Intermediate and Advance levels. To ensure smaller class sizes dancers will be evaluated and divided into two groups for the morning portion of the day. Faculty members to be announced weekly.
NMYB Contemporary Prep Intensive Description –
For Intermediate level and Advanced level dancers
NEW this season is NMYB’s Contemporary Prep Intensive. This program will be supervised by NMYB Artistic Director Mr. Adam, curated by NMYB visiting Master Teacher and Choreographer Miss Caroline Dahm (@sweetcarolinevd), and supported by Butler University Professor Mr. David Ingram. This session has been created for dancers at an Intermediate and Advance technical level and will be asked to explore levels, dynamics, shapes, musicality, floor work, community based and individual improvisation exercises and daily choreographic experiences. Dancers will receive daily technique classes in both ballet and contemporary and will be presented with a variety of interactive lectures about careers, choreography and college prep. Miss Caroline and Mr. David are trusted and valued educators who have strong professional ties within the dance community. It is without question that dancers will grow technically all while strengthening their artistic voice. In Addition to this Intensive experience Miss Caroline will also be setting original choreography for NMYB’s 2022 – 2023 Season. Class size is Limited. Additional faculty members to be announced.
NMYB Classical Variation Prep Intensive Description –
For Intermediate level and Advanced level dancers
NEW this summer is NMYB’s Classical Variation Prep Intensive. This program will be supervised by NMYB Artistic Director Mr. Adam and co-hosted with NMYB friend and guest Master Teachers Miss Tanya Trombly (@bulletproof_ballerina) and Katherine Hozier-Adams (khozier1). This is a TRUE classical experience with daily Ballet Technique and Point Classes in addition to Classical Variation studies from ballets – The Sleeping Beauty, Le Corsiare, and Paquita. This is a wonderful opportunity to kick off the 2022 – 2023 YAGP and Competition Season. This session has been created for dancers at an Intermediate and Advance technical level. A Pointe Assessment will take place on the first day of this intensive to ensure the safety of the dancer. Those dancers who do not meet the rigors of Pointe may still participate but will learn and perform all variations on flat. The health and safety of your dancer is our main concern. Dancers will also participate in a variety of interactive lectures led by Miss Tanya that will touch on nutrition, self-esteem and how to navigate the dance world in a holistic manner. Class size is limited. Additional faculty members to be announced.
Each summer we are excited to welcome returning NMYB students as well as dancers from visiting studios for our annual Workshop Series.
