Program Description

NMYB Intensive

Each summer we are excited to welcome returning NMYB students as well as dancers from visiting studios for our annual Summer Intensives. Dancers must be either at an Intermediate or Advanced technical level to participate in this specific program. To ensure the health of our community all dancers will go through our daily COVID protocol. This information will be emailed to each dancer before the start of their session.

Dancers will  begin each morning with a Pilates focused warmup concentrating on core work, flexibility and proper alignment followed by a two hour classical technique class. Dancers will then have a 30 minute lunch break followed by a 1 hour Pointe or Men’s technique class. For those ladies not yet on pointe they will proceed on flat while working towards developing the needed strength for pointe shoes.

After a short break dancers will experience a variety of techniques that change daily based on that afternoons faculty member. Dancers can look forward to – Jazz, Contemporary, Modern, Choreography, or Improvisation. To end the day dancers will participate in learning an original piece of choreography. On the last day of each session we will provide a ZOOM link for families to observe part of class and our choreography creation.
